Flynn Creek Enhancement Program
This program is funded by the Victorian State Government through the Love Our Lakes program.
This project will address the management of nutrients and sediment through the reduction of nutrient and sediment loads to the Gippsland Lakes. This will be achieved through riparian works on Flynn’s Creek and its tributaries. Riparian works will include stock proof fencing to prevent stock having direct access to the waterway, and revegetation works to create a vegetated buffer zone of at least 10 metres in width either side of the waterway to filter sediment and nutrient rich runoff.
If you have a property that boarders the Flynn Creek and you wish to restore its banks please get in contact with our Project Officer - Kelsey Tong

West Gippsland Dung Beetle Project
Have you ever wondered about the importance of Dung Beetles on your property? 🤎
The West Gippsland Dung Beetle Project is a partnership between ourselves and Maffra & Districts Landcare Network funded by the Victorian Landcare Grants 2022/23!
The aim of the project is to engage and involve community to increase their capacity to monitor and protect existing dung beetle populations in West Gippsland. We will do this by setting up a beetle exchange program which involves swapping beetle species that are abundant in one location but uncommon in another.
More information is to come so keep your eyes peeled for future announcements 😆

Expression of Interest Shade and Shelterbelt Project 2023
We are super excited to let you know that in 2023 we will have funding available for a Shade and Shelter belt project across the Landcare Network area.
Our project sponsors Energy Australia will provide funding to subsidise landholders to fence off remnant vegetation and / or to create native shelterbelts across their property.
Shelterbelts with strategic placement and well-defined objectives have numerous potential benefits to farm productivity and the environment such as:
Help prevent salinity and soil erosion
Conservation of soil water, extending growing seasons and reducing soil erosion and nutrient loss
Shelterbelts placed above and as buffers along watercourses, reduce stream sedimentation and eutrophication, improve water quality, and reduce soil and nutrient run-off from paddocks. (Interception of nutrients before entering water storages improves water quality for stock)
Increased sediment filtration and therefore increases in water quality and aquatic life in local waterways
Protect livestock from cold or hot winds
Provide habitat for wildlife and natural biological control agents
Carbon sequestration
Provide potential wildlife corridors for animal and genetic transfer across the landscape
If you would like to be involved in this project or need more information, please contact Marnie on 0472 503 088 or marnie.ellis@latrobe.vic.gov.au

LCLN's New Logo!
We thought it was time to give our logo some personalisation to demonstrate what our Network represents. From the mountains of the Great Dividing range to the Strzelecki ranges, the rivers that run through and water our region to the trees that give it life. We have tried to represent that in our new logo. We hope you like it!
